More printer problems! coloured cartridge printing?

2 days ago i took out the empty cartridge from the printer, went out and brought a coloured cartridge and put it in the printer (which, by the way is an epson stylus c46). However, brought a coloured cartridge and now cannot print things out as it just tells me theres no black ink.

The work doesnt need to be in black so s there anyway to print things out using just the coloured cartridge or will i have to go and buy another cartridge?

You need black ink, there is no override.

Epson print heads are a finely tuned piezoelectric print head, which means they have a little vibrating crystal in them. If there is no ink to "cushion" the crystal the printer shuts down. That is why you need both cartridge installed with ink. If you do not, you will ruin your printer.
Well, my old printer didn't let me print anything in colour if the black ink was out and vice versa.
So buy another cartridge. If you do not want to let this problem to happen again buy the HP F380 series as your next printer.
you have to buy black ink also... if 1 cartridge is empty, you won't be able to print..
buy another...
