and whenever I try to photocopy something it says-please insert memory card or connect pictbridge camera. I have tried to reset it but to no avail. Does anybody know why this is happening?

I've got the same printer and never had that problem.
I believe that you can set it so that the quick scan button can be used for other things, for example if you dont use your scanner much you could set it to print direct from memory card.
I would look at the Lexmark Utilities in the bottom right hand corner of your screen (the little white box) somewhere in there you might find settings for the quick action keys
