I am going to buy a new printer - which one is the best?

Check out the reviews of both from CNET:
Canon MP600: http://reviews.cnet.com/multifunction-de...
Canon iP6700D: http://reviews.cnet.com/inkjet-printers/...
They seem to prefer the MP600, but the user rating on the iP6700D is slightly higher.
Buy a cannon!
20 years of HP's not one problem. They work first time, every time.
After working at an electronics store for a year, I would definatly recomend going with an hp. The Hp Photosmart C6180 is a very good printer. It is great for photo printing as well as text. It is an all in one machine (fax, scan, copy, print) but it also has a seperate drawer for 5 X 7 photo paper. It uses the 02 cartridges which are very cost effective. It can also be set up to use wirelessly with a home network. It may be a little more expensive than the MP600 but it is worth it. Hp packages their printers with full cartridges, unlike Cannon (who packages their printers with starter cartridges), so you have to factor that into the price. You should be able to get a C6180 for around $260.00 .
They are both very solid printers. The MP will be a multifunction unit, the iP is just a printer. The MP600 has an extra black ink tank that is double capacity and pigmented ink. It adds slightly to your running cost, however it will yield better text printing.
