Can anyone recommend a printer?

i have a epson printer and its been nothing but bother, its the r300 and the quality has never been very good. i am starting uni and want a printer that isnt too expensive to replace the ink on and isnt too expensive to buy in the first place. im not bothered about photo printing or scanning really.

thanks in advance x

Yes the Mirrir group on hollinwood avenue just around the corner from where i live
HP deskjets are very reliable.Even the cheap ones for £30 are decent

Just another note that you can get cannon printer inks from ebay for £1 each. so i bought myself a Canon smartbaseMP360 for £40.
HP are always good.
HP printers so far the best...check what you like.

look at resolution higher is better
how many black & color pages prints per minute.

go to your local Wal-Mart, Office Depot, etc and just see whats there cheap.
Depending on if you want Color or Black / White, the price can change drastically, and if you want Laser or not.

I picked up a non-laser Brother last year for $95.00 at Office Depot and it has worked great for printing black and white.
i always liked hp printers so just look around their website.
Also their custumer service is really good mine broke and they sent me a new one w/o questions.
For quality and long-term performance - you can't beat an HP printer. They're sold pretty much anywhere - BestBuy, CompUSA, Staples, Office Depot, etc etc etc. Any of the retail stores should have a good selection. Just pick out one with the features you want - as long as it says HP you can't go wrong!
I would recommend HP and get refurb cartridges when you need them. Most office supply stores offer their brand name for 2/3 the cost. There are also now chain stores that do nothing but sell refilled/re-manufactured cartridges.

Here is one heck of a deal.

Check out TigerDirect as they usually have some great deals on printers.
Can't go too wrong with a Canon ink jet, they're fairly good value and the ink cartridges are not expensive.
go to a decent seller like overclockers.co.uk or ebuyer and you can read reviews by buyers of products, just price match and then buy one you liek the sound of

I paid 100 for the new low end HP laserjet (2600?)
I did the same as Munki nutz. Got a fancy pants printer but expensive cartridges. I only use that for important documents... but for general printing I get 150 pages out of my Cannon per £1 cartridge (it cost me £40 on ebay last year - second hand). Printing quality isn't as precise (slight fuzzy around edges of letters/text)... but you have to look close to see that. £1 a cartridge (either black or colour) and that is game on.

New printers today are a right con job imo with their expensive cartridges.
I recommend Canon, and here's why.

- first, your cost is not the printer, but the cartridges. Look at what a set of cartridges cost. Canon's are cheaper
- consider that most printers have a tri-color cartridge, that means when YELLOW runs out, you throw away the other good ink. So look for a printer that has separate Yellow, Cyan & Magenta
- you want a printer that is fast... hey, compare specifications at the store.
- While you don't do photos very often, consider getting one that prints good photos. You see, when you spend the money on photo paper, make it count. Professional photographers pick Canon because of the color quality.
- Consider the cable that you already own. Many Canon printers have the plug for both USB and the old Parallel cable; so you don't need to buy a cable now... so look for that.

Consider the store that you buy at. If you go to Staples with the unused Epson Cartridges that you have; bring those back for credit. Just tell them that you are BUYING a new printer and WANT store credit for the old printer's unused cartridges. (hey, if it is still in the Box, you won't need the receipt). They will reward you for your newfound loyalty. Hey, get the Staples Reward card... that helps to save money.

At Staples, look at the Canon printers first. Open the LID, so you see the multiple cartridges. If you see only TWO, then skip that one. Check the price, then look at the Canon ALL-In-One. Again, check the cartridges, and consider the price of the All-in-one.

You really will love your new Canon printer. I gave up on HP and their poor quality paper feed mechanism. I love my TWO Canon printers. Both are dual tray; one below, and vertical tray up on top.

Good luck and Happy Computing!
we just got the epson its really good and easy to use.
if u want to print picture... use Canon iP1000
Yes,I too,reccomend the Cannon.I have a Cannon Pixma iP1600.
I have also an Epson stylus D68 and I have never had any trouble with it.
Get a cheap and dirty canon printer like an Ip2200. You will want one that takes a PG-40 and Cl-41 cartridge. They are lower cost per volume of ink compared to HP. They do a phenomenal job and you can pick up a bare bones Canon for around $30.
The IP4300 from Canon seems to be very popular at the minute: https://www.layeroneuk.com/p-28255-ip430...
