Printer help: scanning?

i want to scan something but it wont let me because i dont have a color print cartridge. shouldnt i still be able to scan? i have an apple ibook g4 and an hp psc 1600 series printer.

HP PSC 1600 is a dumb machine :( That machine still let you scan even your colour catridge is out of ink.
You're right, Scanning has nothing to do with the ink cartridge.. You should be able to Scan and save to your hard drive(Pictures or Documents folder)
But it sounds like it is wierding it out with NO cartridge at all. Stick an empty one in there if you have one.
