3.windows vista print spooler wont restart

Well. Vista... I have it on my new networked pc.
It looks great

Like connection to my XP/Vista Shared printer. It just doesn't work !

Yesterday I found a great workaround for this not solved Microsoft Windows problem.

But what was my problem exactly ?

I wanted to use my Windows XP/Vista shared printer (HP Laserjet 1020 in Wi-Fi Lan{or regular LAN}).
So I tried adding a new network printer.
I found it, I can see the properties. but I cannot connect.
On my Windows XP/Vista machine, it says that everyone can use this shared printer.
Hell, even my other XP laptop prints on this printer

But... Vista thinks it cannot ! It just refused to connect !

So.. the solution

==============================...
Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer.

Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.

A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computername\printername ie. My computer's name is "Web-PPC" and the printer name is HPLjet1020 so I typed in \\Web-PPC\HPLjet1020

Now... press cancel. (yes press cancel !)

Choose Add a local printer (what ... again ? Yes again.. I told you this is a great workaround)

Press Next choose your just created new port.
Choose your printer from the list.
==============================...

And Voila . it works

Ain't Vista great !

no printers are compatible with vista yet
yea any printer with the compaible spftware will work
try an online search threw dell computers as they show and give allot of info on 2007 vista , try it on Google
think you can use any but im not a pc expert lol
You need a printer that has Vista drivers. Quite a few of the cheaper inkjets won't work with Vista. Make sure the printer you buy has Vista drivers - it will usually say on the box.
Any printer will do most new ones are vista approved, however for the older printers you may have to go to the web site and download the driver vista approved. Ask the store when you buy the printer if it will work on vista just to make sure. Hope this helps you...Steve
some printers will run with vista if you download the vista compatible programme, some old xp printers will run with the vista programme, sorry to repeat myself.
i have a vista compatible cannon printer you can pick up a second hand printer and see if there is a compatible programme that you can download onto your laptop that will accept vista
Actually , Computers can install one or more Windows.
You can set somethings , then you can install Windows XP and Vista .(You can have two Windows in you computer at the same time).

But I do not remember the method completely, but i can try to find the method for you.
You get a lot of bad advise here>_>

Nearly all printers that are less than 5 years old will work with Vista. In fact a lot of the older ones won't even need drivers installed, because Vista has them already.

A good example is my Canon iP4000. I just needed to install a driver extension, which basically allows me to see how much ink there is. The drivers themselves were provided by Vista.

When you see a printer you like (the iP4300 is only £60 from Argos, it's a great buy^_^), look on the manufacturers website for vista compatible drivers.

Vista is fine, just make sure you get the correct drivers (if the printer needs them) as the Vista64 bit drivers can be different from the 32 bit ones.

Most old printers are not supported by Vista. HP are only making new drivers for printers less than 7 years old. Most new printers will be compatible, but check on the manufacturers website to see if they have a Vista driver download. The printing function is very similar to XP so some of the XP drivers may work in Vista, although from my experience they do not. I have a HP Photosmart C3180 printer/scanner which is compatible with Vista. I got this from PCworld for when I start Uni in September. Now they sell a better model, still at a cheap price. Doesn't come with a USB cable, but I asked instore and they gave me one free.

I would strongly recommend against Epson and Lexmark. From my experience they are tempramental.
The printer probably won't come with Vista drivers on the included CD. Figure out which printer you want to buy then go to its website and make sure there are vista drivers for it there and download them and use them to install your printer.
Vista auto-installed my printer without me having to do anything. Lots of printers in its data-base.
Any fairly new printer up to three or four years old will work with Vista, go to somewhere like PC World bought a combined printer, scanner and copier for 39 quid
I bought a acer laptpp about 3 weeks ago with 512 rams memory so for i have tryed 3 printers on it and they all worked a epson r220 photo printer, a hp 8151 photo printer and a cannon 1600 printer. I just pluged in one at a time and my computer accepped every one, with no soft ware to install. so decided which printer to use,the epson all of printers are over 2 years so they are not plug&play. hook your printer to usb port ,it also works with a hub,and see what happens. it loades all of soft ware from the pinter also. would you let me know if this works on your vista computer.
