Having used both, Avast far out performs AVG
With full automatic updates of both Virus definitions and Program updates. you can't go wrong for FREE.
AVG is still good ...but not as..
AVG makes the best free anti virus. There is also one called Anti-vir. If are looking to just clear viruses, you could download a trial of one of the paid versions. I would recommend downloading a trial of Kaspersky 7.
Or you could try ClamWin...although its very slow.

i personally belive that panda is good and also zone alarm but what ever anti virus you install be sure to upgrade it with internet first then use it.
Udate your antivirus and scan your coputer in safe mode. After you remove virus, I recommend you use firefox browser. It is safer than IE. It can prevent viruses such as worm,trojan and etc. The newest official edition of firefox can be downloaded from http://www.mollzia.com
