Since Windows XP is copyrighted software, I'm not sure that there's any such thing as a free copy.

Even if you buy a new PC and Windows XP comes with it, you're still paying for it.

If you're looking for an inexpensive copy of Windows XP, you might check eBay.
Yeah me too dude, they only cost a hundred bucks for an upgrade!
You can have mine.
And I wanted a gold plated rolls royce but it's funny how the world works ent it ;-)
Sillyness.
Get one from Ebay, they don't cost a great deal, If you save some money from your paper round you will soon have the money. If you can't wait, put Ubuntu Linux on it, much better and it is free.
Linux is free.try that instead.
i learned a long time ago roger the disadvantages of using illegal windows xp disks far outweigh the advantages
this is because illegal or pirated windows disks play havoc with your p.c
although not universally known, microsoft use the windows genuine advantage tool to discover who,s using pirated disks and when found leave the genuine advantage patch on your p.c
this lets you know you have a pirated copy of windows xp and how to go about making it genuine
but also microsoft leave small files that over time cause problems with all your hardware, microsoft dont tell us this but they dont have to,and even if they siad they could damage hardware on illegal copies, who will complain?
wether this is true or not,i personally have nothing against the person who uses a copied version of xp,its their p.c and its up to them
however with copies of windows xp avalible for as low as £50 at http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productin... much better buying a copy and this way you get all the benefits of a genuine windows xp ,such as updates, downloads and support
or why not upgrade to vista,a copy of windows vista home premium(basic,s no good) can be bought for £65 at http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productin...
good luck roger!
Linux is free (costs nothing), more stable (less crashes), more secure (less viruses), faster, supports more filesystems (ext2, ext3, fat32, ntfs etc.), you can do more with it (the license is freer) and you can use it without installing it if you choose a livedistro.
If you are just looking for a "COPY" of the CD and you already have the key, there is nothing illegal about getting a copy of the CD, you may be able to go to a computer store and they will make you a copy of the CD for 5.00, its the key that cannot be given away, once it is loaded onto one computer you cannot load it on another. DO NOT GO WITH A HACKED COPY, your asking for more then what you want to mess with, beleave me its just not worth it.
