VIRUS REMOVAL STEPS:
this will be long, tedious and frustrating but it needs doing step by step
XP:
most nasties are set to reside in your restore system. clean them out and forget to close S.R. BEFORE you start clean up and they return when you reboot.
do this while OFFLINE!
start--all programs--accessories--system tools--system restore--settings--drive [ c ]--setting
check off and while there,click--hold--drag slider to 5% and recover 10% hard drive memory
control panel--internet options--general
delete:
cookies--history [ and set days to keep to 0 ]--delete temp internet files
privacy tab:
advanced--override--allow session,allow 1st party--BLOCK 3rd party [ spyware/tracking ] cookies
Recycle Bin
click on recycle bin and empty it
Disk Clean:
all programs--accessories--system tools--disk clean [ and later disk defrag ]
choose os [ c ] to clean,wait,click ok [ twice ]
now go back and do disk defrag [ seleck anylize--run or ok ]
Prefetch Folder
my computer--local disk drive [ c ]--windows--prefetch
select view--select all--press delete key on keyboard
now--IF you have any protective programs [ anti-virus--anti-spyware ] installed,NOW is the time to run those.
once you are clean, return to sytem restore and turn it back on [ reverse above instructions ].
choose to create a new restore point, name it and you're done!
Vista:
vista is a bit different, yet almost the same.
getting to internet options is the same,so look at the instructions for what to do with XP above

REMEMBER TO RESET SYSTEM RESTORE AFTER YOU ARE DONE WITH VIRUS CLEAN UP AND CREATE NEW RESTORE POINT !
disk clean & defrag
control panel--perfromance,information & tools--click disk clean up
select drive [ c ]--ok--okclick delete files
disk defrag is on the same page along with disk clean except it's called advanced tools
see XP instructions on what to do--when

reinstall windows, pain in the neck but goodbye all virus
Been there, done that. It's a pain in the neck. I couldn't get rid of it and eventually had to get a new hard drive. The one with the virus was reformatted and I believe that removed the virus, but don't quote me on that. I now have AOL Virus Shield on my computer, it's a free program and so far it's worked very well.
Just be grateful your virus hasn't taken you to any adult websites or installed web cams on your desktop! You've no idea what popped up on my computer when I had a virus!
Anti-spyware does not stop viruses.
If you cannot login, you will have to reformat and reinstall.
First off, SuperAntiSpyware WILL NOT and DOES NOT scan for virus'. Read it's name AGAIN and again...
Try these and see what they can do for you.
If you think that you have an infection try these programs, ALL
If you want to try different programs, try these.
First and foremost, these are MY opinions and have experienced several machines that had these on them.
Stop using the following software:
-- AVG --
-- Ad Aware SE --
-- Spybot Search and Destroy --
-- Ewido --
-- McAfee --

You should have an anti virus program, different from antispyware. If it's not to late, you can down load a free one, AVG is good.
There is no need to go to the repair shop, if you can remove the trojan using software, yourself.
I suggest to download the following:
http://www.free.grisoft.com AVG ANTI-VIRUS
http://www.lavasoft.com AD-AWARE 2007
http://www.ccleaner.com C CLEANER
Download, install, update, scan. (For all of them).
When the trojan is detected, folow the advice to remove it form your system.
If you cannot use the laptop to download the software, download from another computer and install on the computer by transering the setup.exe file from a memory stick or CD ROM.
Boot the computer up in Safe Mode, by pressing [F8] button repeatedly when you turn on your cpmputer; and install and scan from there.
Hopefully you can get your computer working again soon.
=]
EDIT:
The person who calls himself 'One OCmputer Guy' must be crazy and inexperianced.n He has reccomended Norton (The worst product on the market -- even admitted by the guys at PC World) over Kaspersky, which IS the best product to use. (But expensive) Becuase it has the bets detection rate... Better than Norton... EW.
Do not listen to him.
it is some software installation like. u will delete by clicking the .exe file and deactivate that
Check your pc run a scan at below link

Let get your term straight. Spyware is spyware there is no other term that a spyware use. A virus could be a worm, virus, Trojan horse, and other things. The term is explain.
Now let explain it is better have more then one spyware and antivirus scanner running on your computer because some these scanner cant alway detect it or new ones. So if one miss it and the odd of not missing on the another Scanner is more chance it will be detect.
Also that go with antispyware program.
Also do you update it regular and do full scan from time to time and do you got a firewall.
All good idea if you got a problem go in safe mode and run those program like that. Because it is more easyier of removing it then normal mood.
You need Antivirus. You don't need anti-spyware, but it helps.
1: boot into safe mode.
2: roll back to a restore point at least 2-3 day prior to the problem.
3: re-boot.
4: if you can login properly, run the antivirus (get AVG fro ww.free.grisoft.com and install that if you don't have anything else).
IF you still can't login then follow spywaredr's instruction on manual removal. This is a possible quick fix that has worked for me in the past.
