Is there such thing as a networkable scanner?

I am looking for a scanner with ethernet capabilities and not a multi-funtion. Does such a thing exist and if so who manufactures them?

Answers:
You can purchase network scanners as stand-alone units or you can use most standard scanners and "share" them on the network to get a similar result (assuming you have the correct operating system ex: Win XP).

The down-side to purchasing a stand-alone unit, is they tend to be expensive. I have mostly seen them purchased by bigger companies or as a feature of a multi-function copier.

The down-side to sharing the scanner from a computer is that the computer must be on in-order to use the scanner. It also may slow down the performance of that particular computer while the scan is in progress.

Either way, they are usually easy to set up. If you need assistance or further information, please feel free to e-mail me.
you meant network scanner.
