What to do if your comp is making ape noises?

First thing to do is just hit the power button and turn it off, but if its not been cleaned out in a long time, there can be dust, there can be wires hitting in the CPU cooling fan and the biggest I can think of is if your hard drive is going or gone bad,, otherwise if its still "ape" noises, throw it a banana and see what happens, lol,, sorry I had to say that
Back up important data from your hard drive before you do anything else.
Do it now.
I don't know if your hard drive is about to crash but, it may be the read head is bouncing now, as you read this. Do a back up immediately and then, go back and troubleshoot the problem, just in case.
Then do a drive scan to see if the number of bad sectors is unreasonabley high.
