Epson Scanner?
Answers:
Refresh the driver installation in Device Manager > right-click My Computer, choose Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager. Look under 'Other Devices' or 'Imaging Devcies' for the Epson scanner entry. If with a ?, right-click and choose Update Driver. If no error, right-click and choose Uninstall then restart the PC and follow the windows wizard when restarted. If listed with a ! check the error code but it is normally an indication the driver is not installed, so install the driver from disc or Epson website.
Epson scanners are not known for being temperemental, Windows just doesn't always install the driver properly. The issue could otherwise be a problem with the USB port it is connected to, so make sure your Windows system has the latest updates and try another port. Some scanners require a USB patch (F-3200, 2480/2580, 3490, 3590). Contact Epson if you require support, they'll help you out.
Epson scanners seem to have a knack for being tempermental. The first thing I would try would be to uninstall it and reinstall it.
