Epsom 1250 flatbed scanner?
Can someone help me i have been offered an Epsom 1250 fla.tbed scanner brand new for £10.
Is this worth it, also what actually does a scanner do, and do i need to buy ink for it.
Does this copy things for you.

£10 for a scanner is a good price. As you might imagine, at that sort of price it's not going to be a high-end product, but it will do a good job for you.
It's not as old as the previous response might have suggested. There are definitely Windows XP and Windows Vista drivers available for it from the Epson website. (See the link below.)
As you've already been told, a scanner copies pictures and text into your computer, so there's no need for ink. If you do wish to print pictures or text out, you'll need to buy a printer.
From what I've seen on various websites, the Epson Perfection 1250 flatbed scanner is a USB device. This might mean that you'll need to purchase a USB A-to-B cable to connect it to your computer. Of course, you'll need to have a free USB socket to plug this into. (Don't worry about which way round this cable will fit. It'll only fit one way round. Do check, however, that the seller is providing a power supply unit with the scanner.)
A scanner - scans documents and images and saves the output as a file, therefore no ink is required because it does not print anything.
If you want to print an image or document then you send it to a printer.
This seems to be an old scanner and it doesn't mention whether it is compatible with Windows XP.
Ray's right. This is a fairly old model. I have one attached to my desktop right now, so the title caught my eye. It does work fine with WindowsXP, at least for me.
A scanner is just the copier part... no ink or paper needed. You can make a digital copy (a picture) of anything that will lay flat on the scanner bed.
Useful for copying old photos to upload to the web, and any document that you want to email or post to a web site, for example, when the only one available is a paper version.
10pounds is probably ok if it's in the box with all software and cables. I picked up a used one with just the power supply for $10US. But check new scanner prices first before you buy that old one!
If you're using WinXp, then it looks like a good buy. If you're using Vista, don't bother. It's not supported.
If you really don't know what the difference between a scanner and a printer is, I'd suggest that you either buy a book such as Computers for Dummies, or go to a beginners computer class at your local college.
