IS there OCR software that can translate an scanned handwritten paper to a file in my computer?

I just want to scann a few letters written by hand without having to type them. I know that handrecognition is possible with palm device but what about computers. I own a simple basic scanner, is it enough?

Answers:
normally your scanner comes with the software for that. I know HP scanners come use I.R.I.S. OCR software with their scanning software
